Definition of Done
Ship with the same done criteria on every story — reviewed, tested, and documented — without turning each item into a subtask.
Add multiple checklists to a Jira work item. Reuse templates, automate workflow steps, track progress, and ask a Rovo AI agent — without turning every lightweight step into a subtask.
A short walkthrough of checklists on a Jira work item, templates, and progress.
Pick the tool that helps your team iterate faster and stay clear.
Jira is built for work items. Give Definition of Done, QA steps, and similar lists a home on the issue: pull them out of the description onto a real checklist so progress stays visible. Checklist items are your subtasks — assignee, due date, and status — without extra issues, so the work stays faster and easier to use.
Checklist for Jira lives on the issue and tracks progress in the open. Reusable templates, automation, an audit log, and a Rovo AI agent give you more than subtasks — without spinning up extra work items.
The same product, multiple outcomes — from Definition of Done to financial audits.
Ship with the same done criteria on every story — reviewed, tested, and documented — without turning each item into a subtask.
Keep reporter-agreed checks next to the work, with owners and dates, so “done” means the same thing to engineering and the business.
Give testers a repeatable pass on every bug and feature, with statuses for blocked vs complete instead of a comment thread.
Run the same production checklist every time: staging sign-off, rollout steps, and rollback, with progress visible on the board.
Standardize new-hire and access-review steps with protected templates so people tick the list instead of rewriting it.
Run audit and compliance checklists on the work item with an enterprise audit log and built-in protection so completed steps cannot be quietly altered.
Organize the list, standardize it with templates, enforce it in the workflow, track it in JQL, and ask Rovo when you are stuck.
Put every lightweight step on the work item itself — multiple checklists, real statuses, and formatting people already know.
Author a template once. Apply it by hand, on issue create, on a status change, or from Jira Automation.
Block a transition until the checklist is complete, reset it on a workflow step, or lock a protected template so the steps cannot drift.
Progress is on the work item, on boards, and in the filters you already run. Automate status updates with AI so the team already knows what is done.
The Checklist agent reads the issue, prefers your saved templates, and can reply that the work is done and looking good.
Checklist for Jira increases team productivity and helps eliminate mistakes with a repeatable process and automation. Navy SEALs, military teams, aviation safety experts, and healthcare already use checklists to hold the highest bar — teams often see double-digit productivity gains once that discipline lives on the Jira issue.

Straight answers about native Jira checklists, templates, automation, JQL, and Rovo.
Jira lets you put checkboxes in a description or create subtasks. Description checkboxes are easy to lose and cannot be templated, validated, or reported. Subtasks are extra issues to create and manage. It is much easier to manage the use cases we cover — Definition of Done, acceptance criteria, QA, release runbooks, onboarding, and financial audits — with Checklist for Jira: structured lists on the work item, with templates, automation, and progress.

Yes. A workflow validator can block a transition until checklist items are complete, optionally scoped to a template or checklist name. Post functions can reset items on a transition.
Yes. Progress is visible on the issue and on boards, and progress fields can be used in JQL for filters, reports, and dashboards.
When Rovo AI is enabled, the Checklist agent can create and update checklists from the issue, find and apply your saved templates, and draft status updates for comments. Admins can add site or project guidance for naming and tone. The agent prefers team templates over inventing a new QA or release list.
